Caught the ending of part one, tried to catch the second half the next day, didn't record properly, no idea what the problem was, but would like to see it in its entirety if possible.
Reading about it here, it seems Linda Gray may have been in it.
Is this the ONLY two-parter dominated by a hi-rise fire like this? Seems like Brackett did set up near the fire.
There really weren't early episodes that a tragedy dominated the entire episode, were there?
Two parters, then. I recall the mountain fire. That took up nearly the whole episode, did it?
Wasn't there a traffic accident episode, but again, I don't think it filled the entire episode.
And there wasn't a two-parter like this in the regular show run, was there?
I'm just going to have to put in a program for 'Steel Inferno' and try to catch it that way.
Sounds like there are a couple of different questions here. First off, the 'two-parters' you mention were actually 2-hour TV movies. Don't let imdb fool you; what they call "Season 7" is actually a number of TV movies that aired sporadically over the course of about a year and a half after the regular show ended. A few Rampart characters appear in two of these movies, but none of the other Station 51 guys.
Is this the ONLY two-parter dominated by a hi-rise fire like this?
Of the six movies, YES, Steel Inferno is the only one that takes place in a hi-rise office building.

Yes and no. The first-season episode Brushfire deals with (duh) a brushfire, but the numerous incidents that the guys respond to are varied and we don't see a full hour of guys holding hoses against burning brush. *Note: this was NOT a two-parter, just a regular hour-long episode.
Wasn't there a traffic accident episode, but again, I don't think it filled the entire episode.
A lot of episodes featured car accidents. They didn't take up the full episode, though. You might be thinking about the episode The Promotion, in which a big freeway pile-up is caused by fog, and the FFs and PMs treat a number of different victims at the scene.
And there wasn't a two-parter like this in the regular show run, was there?
Not sure what you're referring to exactly, but there weren't any two-parters during the run of the show. There was a two-hour pilot movie*, and the six post-series TV movies, two hours each.
* During the 4th or 5th season (I don't know which), the Powers That Be took the pilot movie and turned it into a two-hour (or two-part) episode. They had a "present-day" Roy and Johnny discuss the beginning of the paramedic program and this reminiscence was used to re-air the pilot movie (Wedworth-Townsend Act). But again, it wasn't a regular episode, but simply the pilot movie sandwiched between awkward "I remember when..." scenes filmed a few years later.
Hope this answers at least some of your questions. Reading the threads that begin with "MeTV episodes...." may help as they discuss each episode individually. Plus screen-pics--we have lots and lots of screen pics.

And I don't know hwy you weren't sure of what I was talking about, then turned around and answered exactly what I was asking.
LOL, in your original post you mentioned hi-rise fires, traffic accidents, two-parters, and brushfires, so I wasn't sure which of those elements you were referring to when you asked if there were any episodes "like this."
But I'm glad I was able to answer it anyway.
