So the entire imdb forum is going away in a couple of weeks. Not being culled or pared back or shortened. Just.... going away entirely.

All of our comments and observations and commentary.... gone.

All the fun discussions we've had.... pfft!

All the questions and knowledge and information that's been shared.... disappeared!

Anything you want from this board, you better get in the next couple of weeks. Copy or save the pictures you like. Any particular discussions you want to keep, I suggest doing a copy&paste into a Word document or something. Because it will all disappear completely in about two weeks.

Other sites may pop up to continue the discussion, but THIS PLACE will be no more, and the fun and enjoyment shared here won't be replicated. So grab what you can however you can, and if you want to continue the conversation, there are (or will be) new places to do so.

That sucks. At least they gave notice. Most social sites just disappear without a word.

If I had time, I'd set up a forum using some of the basic free forum hosting sites like Zetaboards, phpBB3, etc. I sure don't have time to maintain one. Maybe an established forum could add a section for Emergency!

I haven't commented much on these forums, but I have been happily reading for a while.

I just won't be commenting on facebook let alone other social media. I do not need every bit of my life shown to everyone I know. I just don't like facebook. I have a dear friend with whom I share our mutual interest in fiber crafts. We never ever discuss politics. My 92 year-old sainted aunt doesn't need to see the language I occasionally can be provoked into using. I just can't compartmentalize my life adequately on facebook. I am from the era of diaries with little tiny (useless) locks. Boundaries, I haz them.

Anyway! I found that E! screenshots I clicked on are all sitting happily in the Shared With Me folder in my google drive.

If anyone out there has gmail or any kind of google account, you have a google drive, and much to your surprise, you may find that you already have a nice collection of screenshots.

I will miss the many nice people who comment on this forum, especially slackersmom.

Ok, I lied. I created a quick and plain-jane forum for Emergency! It uses a free host and phpBB software. If it gets used, I will gradually make it look and work better. Since it is free, it will have some ad banners and/or hot-linked words in text that lead to advertisements. It is a work in progress.....slow progress.

hey, all y'all! I've lurked on this forum for a few years, but hadn't wanted to jump thru all the (1,771,561)hoops to register (about 10-15 minutes??sheesh!). anyway, now done.

after all this time, I feel a real bond with the posters, and will miss all the comments about E!, espesh since MeTV has discontinued it. i'll try to capture slackersmom's pics on google drive, unless there's a more painless way to copy the sites?

are you guys on another forum? I plan to return to Facebook sometime this year. any way to capture imdb content onto a more shareable forum?? scanning thru E! imdb forum, I see lots to save from 2014 posts...

I drove to Chelsea 3x to see Randy at the Purple Rose - 2x for Superior Donuts (pre- and post- nosebreakage; 1x for 'morning after grace' <- well written! reveals very timely within space of the play!); saw the donuts CBS commercial, and within 10 secs KNEW it was about Superior Donuts!! watched the premiere visualizing Randy instead of Judd Hirsch, the tv epi captured much of the feel of the play, except Franco was writing a novel in the play, and was a tagger in the tv series, and the land developer in the play was Russian? tv show was Iraqi (funny anyway - Fawz was, like, 'I've had, like, 3 espressos, so I'm like, ahhhhhhh!' he jokes about being 'too terrorist' in his external dialog.) tv show kept lots of the play's flavor, having only 1/2hr, they're only leading for now (spoilers! I hope!). to me, it seemed that pacing of dialog was faster, which I ascribe to time/format -- 'snapsnap' dialoging lines - Judd left hanging on his lines a little; (Randy & co. had 1 1/2hrs to develop play's dialog, whereas series has 20+ epis?), and, like, Judd Hirsch won't get his schnozz broke by epi 13!!

geez, i'm gonna SO MISS you guys!! this is about the 7th thing in 3 years that I assumed will always be here, and then, POOF! GONE!! if all y'all are up to it, I will Name Names of those on this post that I will miss...

beginning with slackersmom, whom I feel started this whole thing off....
& mcpierogipazza, bakulanews,& ladybronco. if I've burnt you, may it come upon me 1000x. otherwise, if we can meet up somewhere better, pls let us know!!

I tried to register, but got an error message after completing everything.

So I tried again only to be told that my username and email were already in use. So I tried to login and was told I was inactive. I did not get a confirming email.

It seems it remembered my registration info but doesn't realize that it didn't send me the confirming email, so I guess I am out of luck.

I've had the same issues trying to register. I thought I was registered, but never got the confirmation. I'll recheck my email for the confirmation, and if I still haven't received it, I'll try again tomorrow.

Thanks for the kind words. This forum was quite the busy (and fun!) meeting place back when I first joined, and we had a good group. SOme of the regulars drifted away, but there always seemed to be some other nice people joining and keeping up the conversation. The board may have slowed down at times, but not for long, and in the past six months or so it had been picking up with new fans and some great conversations.

The shutting down of the boards is bad enough for shows that are currently airing, but for oldies like Emergency (or Adam-12, etc.) there really wasn't any easy-to-find place where people could discus these shows. I'm sure there are private pages or sites, but A) you have to know how to look for them, and B) many are probably private and you can't just barge in.



Wow, I just read the news. I'm sad and disappointed. I have so enjoyed the comments, the fun and just silliness from the superfans here! I'm glad that I reported the nasty "trolls" from time to time. I've so appreciated the information and screencaps (slackermom you are best!). I'm happy to say that I was able to see the station and go to the LA county fire museum last year. I wish you all well and I will miss you.

Thank you JohnnyGage51.  It looks like whatever you did worked. I had to use a different screen name and email address by this time I was successful. My name over there is GageGirl72 and I just started a welcome thread under the Station Maintenance section if anyone is interested.

ETA: I registered twice.  I'll be keeping the same name I use here. I'll start a new welcome thread with that name. Apologies to JohnnyGage51 for giving you more work to do. I'm afraid I'm not very computer savvy.

I guess folks aren't all that upset about losing this forum. I've had one person register. I thought even if nobody liked the forum, they would register, copy/paste as much as they could so as not to lose it forever, then move on when they found a place they liked better.

Believe me I am. I think this sucks, but there is probably nothing we can do about it. When I get the time I'm going to try to save what I can. Can saved content from here be copied to the new site or would that break the rules?

It would break moral rules and possibly more. That's why I hoped folks would subscribe to the forum and copy their own content over to it. I could copy and paste pretty much all of it, but I won't.

Okay, I was just wondering. I won't be doing that. I don't want to cross a line even unintentionally. I doubt I'll be posting much content anyway. Maybe a funny picture or gif with a name and link to the source like I do here. I mostly want to participate in the discussions. Thanks for answering my question. I hope I didn't offend you by asking.

I tried registering at the new site the other day but never got a confirmation letter. I'll try again today and if that doesn't work, I'll contact the administrator. Someone else here on another thread mentioned having the same issue, so I'm wondering if that's why not many people have signed up.

I am so very disappointed that IMDB is going to take the message boards down! While I haven't posted very often I do love checking the old messages after seeing an episode. I wish I'd started watching E! a few years ago when the board was so active. And of course I love looking at the screencaps.

Slackersmom, am I correct in thinking that your books contain a lot of the information that you've posted about individual episodes on the board? I've saved a few of my favourites of your screencaps, but the while the pics are great your comments with them really make them special!

There is some great E! stuff on Tumblr. I joined to follow some of the E! fans.

Yes, this is correct. The books are essentially all the episode reviews I've posted here, pretty much word for word. At the time I published them, I had NO INKLING that the imdb boards would ever be discontinued or stopped, but now I'm very, very glad that I did collect all the reviews in one place. And it was not easy, either.

However, the books DO NOT include any of the screen pics. A year or so ago I contacted NBC/Universal about permission to include a few pics in each book, and they said that sure, that could be arranged... for about $250-$300. Per picture.  
So yeah, that didn't happen. Other than the cover, the ebooks have no pics from the show.

(Even the cover images have been slightly altered from the original--not that the average person would notice, just enough so it's not 100% exact. And none of them include a visible reference to LACoFD, or Station 51 or anything specific to the show. A girl has to protect herself from lawsuits, after all.  )

That's why I encourage people to Copy or Save As the pictures now, while they can. If there's another place I can post some of them publicly, I'll be glad to do it, when I get a chance.

hey, slackersmom, I hope you have alternate ways to contact mcpierogipazza, ladybronco, and bakulanews? I haven't seen much of them lately and wonder if they know this is gonna go *poof*!

also, I think mcpierogipazza has a tumblr and/or flickr account(s). can your screencaps be transferred/stored there, with permission, maybe?

screencaps51 (on tumblr) is another place that's apparently wrapped up and, i'm afraid with no input from creator, will also go *poof* sometime this year. oh, the humanity...... 😭

Unfortunately I have no way of contacting McP, Ladybronco, or bakulanews.

From clickng on their names it looks like LadyB hasn't posted on the boards since 2014. No idea if she reads or visits any forums, though. And bakulanews hasn't posted in almost 2 years.

McP has been on more recently (in the last 6 months, maybe?) but no idea how to contact except through private message; I think a PM sends an email to notify them. I don't go on tumblr, so I don't know if she has an account there.

Someone on this board sometimes linked to a tumblr page, OK-7 (or okay7; not sure how it was spelled). Anyway even though it was probably a page devoted to Adam-12, there was a lot of crossover with E! on that page so that might be a way to let people know.

It's OK-7. She mostly does Emergency, Adam-12, Starsky & Hutch, The Monkee's, and once in a while Laramie and Gidget. Maybe if someone here who's on Tumbler can contact OK and she can pass the message. I'm not, I just link to it if I see something interesting or funny.
