19th Anniversary Special ?

I hope I'm not the only fan who would want to encourage the powers that be to include 'The Bob Newhart Show 19th Anniversary Special' in one of the future DVD Season sets.

Back in 1991(?!), on the night it was originally broadcast, I taped the Special, but in a cruel twist of fate, an electrical storm interfered with my television reception, and to the best of my knowledge it was never re-broadcast.

It sounded like the show I love, but fifteen years later, I'm still wondering how everybody looked, how the sets were dressed, etc.

The apparent popularity of the DVDs is making me hopeful that the Anniversary Special will eventually be included as a bonus feature.

Does anyone agree?

I would love to see that special again!
outlaw-bobbiejo, I didn't get it on tape either and I really wish that I had.

As I recall, it played off of the brilliant ending for "Newhart", with Bob telling Emily, et al, about a really weird dream that he had that referenced much of the stuff from "Newhart".
It really brought "TBNS" and "Newhart" around full circle.
Great stuff!

I just finished watching it...again....managed to get a copy of it. You're right, it did bring the two series around full circle, effectively making "Newhart" a dream. It started where Newhart left off, where he wakes up and tells Emily about this weird dream he had.

Howard mentioned a dream, too, in this show ... a LONG one, five seasons. Carol says, "you were an astronaut!" and in showing the dream (episode "World's Greatest Lover" from I Dream of Jeannie), Jerry comments, "Wow! Who's the babe!" referring, of course, to Jeannie/Barbara Eden. Had to laugh. HIS dream would have been BEFORE TBNS!

lol - I had completely forgotten about Howard's dream comments!
Those were great too - thanks for reminding me.
