Salted almonds? Currants?

Simulated cream? Are those common wedding cake ingredients in England? I have never heard of a wedding cake with almonds and currants in it til Mr. Grainger had one dumped on his head.

reply

Probably not 'salted' almonds, but almonds and currents definitely. Wedding cake is almost always "Rich Fruit Cake". The almonds would be used in the Marzipan layer under the icing.

Oh yea. Come to think of it, almond slivers on a cake are common in the U.S. I guess that's what they were referring to.

reply

Not currants, but "sultanas". Mr. Grainger thought he had currants in his ears until one fell out.
Lol, ?, That's my favorite episode!
