Identify This Episode Please. Mrs. Slocombe Stepping Out Of The Elevator

She had brought a stand of sorts, with a long pole and having a widening, cone-like base.

There was a cover for the base, about the same size, and it seemed the best way she found to carry the cover was upon her head. It was black and cone shaped, with an opening at the top to slip over the pole.

She is now also wearing a dark cloak, so yes, you got it, with the dark cloak, the black cone on her head and carrying the pole with the wide base, she looked like a witch. She nailed it.

I absolutely love when she enters in these get-ups, but I haven't a clue what episode this was from.

Anyone?

It is from the episode "Christmas Crackers" from season 3.

The staff arrive early in the morning to discuss various ideas on how to boost sales. However once Mr.Rumbold arrives, he informs them that Mr.Grace has already decided that the staff should dress up in novelty costumes in an attempt to attract customers.

I thought this was from an episode I see quite regularly. It is. I always watch this episode a couple of times before Christmas.

Mr. Humphries: "I always suspected it." 

Anyone here like the Human League?

I suspected that was the case. AYBS was literally run into the ground here in America in reruns, as was Tom Baker's Doctor Who and Keeping Up Appearances, but Christmas episodes for whatever reason were pulled and MAYBE aired at the holidays (unlike American Christmas episodes which could on occasion air during the summer or spring with no problem. They finally caught on to not show holiday episodes out of season, but it still takes place).

Unlike so many other AYBS episodes, which I have glutted myself on, scenes like that of Mrs. Slocombe and Peacock wearing the googly glasses, which I knew was from a Christmas episode, I've not seen in a long time.

All episodes are on YT, even the ones not shown in the US ... on various channels for your viewing pleasure ?

I watch them every night; they're my comfort of hot tea ? before bed ?

Well, PBS also pulled a couple of episodes over the use of blackface, which includes one of the Christmas episodes.

The Christmas episode with blackface, which also was appreciated by the black youth in the episode, unlike how we respond in the states, was shown once at least once at Christmas here in the US, as I still have it recorded.

The episode with Slocum 'wearing' the base to a stand or something like a witch's hat and carrying the pole looking like a witch's broom was the same episode with Peacock wearing the googly glasses and turns out it was another Christmas episode, but I failed to not record this one.

PBS only showed Christmas episodes of BBC shows once that I recall, like AYBS, KUA (tho her Christmas episode has aired more than once and I believe in regular syndication), VoD and at that time showing My Hero, he turned up as well.

I think Christmas was on the weekend that year.

It depends on your local station, since the programs are purchased independently. Mine, in Central IL, showed the Christmas episode from Alfie Bass' time on the show, a few times. The early one with the blackface was shown once, at least. They never showed the episode about the celebration of Mr Grace's birthday, where they research his family history, and do the minstrel show finale. They held off on the Christmas episode for a while, then showed it a time or two. They flat out refused to air the minstrel one. Ironically, they never cut the Monty Python episode where Terry Jones plays a character who, at one point, thinks he's Eartha Kitt. Granted, the make-up was rather lightly done, so it was not an obvious blackface.
