Mr. Goldberg. A Real A-Hole

Am I the only one who thought Mr. Goldberg was a big ol' bitch? How he got hired, how he tried to con the staff out of their wages. He just came across as a schemer. Mr. Grainger was the best as head of gents.

I just watched the episode where he tried to con the staff out of wages. Not a nice guy.

But a fun character to watch. The other Grainger replacements were snoozefests.

I'll give you that. But Mr. Tebbs wasn't that bad. I really couldn't stand Mr. Spooner either. Just a clown. Mr. Lucas was the man.

reply

Con them? They signed a contract.

reply

well they signed a contract that he never let them get a chance to read or make a copy - so it was pretty sleazy. His was a character that veered into awful stereotypes; such as the few episodes they had old racist "blackface" performances.

reply

I didn't find him to be a Jerk but was a very stereotypical portrayal of a Jew. I think the most blatantly egregious one was when he was totting up the figures and was murmuring and bobbing back and forth.

Alfie Bass was Jewish and all stereotypes are founded in reality.
