Cast of the new BBC "Are You Being Served?" remake announced...

The cast of the new BBC remake of "Are You Being Served?" has been announced with Sherie Hewson ("Loose Women", "Benidorm") playing Mrs. Slocombe, John Watkins as Mr. Humphries and Niky Wardley ("Catherine Tate Show") as Miss. Brahms. I adore the original series and while you could never match or beat the original cast - will give it a shot (just hope it's not a total disaster!)...

It doesn't look promising.

Nothing against the new show but I don't see them catching lighting in a bottle twice. They would be hard pressed to beat the original cast.

I love 'Are You Being Served?' The original benefited from an experienced, talented, ensemble cast. Time will tell if the new cast can matchup to the the originals, it's certainly a very big ask.

How are they ever going to get away with that stuff today?

Unless they are less pc in England.

It was shown in the UK last year. It was a total disaster and will not go any further than one episode.

It aired in Canada a couple of months ago. Vision TV aired the original series, and it came up to the final episode where Mr. Spooner may have become a rock star.
After that episode aired, I figured they would go back to the beginning of the series.

They did, BUT....

They aired that one episode.

It was....OK. Nothing really to write home about.

I did enjoy the Simple Minds joke.

Miss Brahms : Do you know Ian Kerr. You know...Simple Minds?
Mrs. Slocombe : No, but I work with a few.
