Yay for Women In Cages...

This movie is excellent. Why are people dissing it? I used the video box art as personalized table-top decoration. The whole movie is every bit as crappy as the title makes it sound.

What's not to love? :P

Favourite line might be re: the dead rat in the cell corner: "Did he eat my sandwich?"

i actually like it better than THE BIG DOLL HOUSE, because it's more nitty and gritty, you have pam as the mean guard, and it flows better. but... THE BIG BIRD CAGE i think blows either away.

reply

Thanks for the recommendation. Will check the big bird cage...x

reply

I wouldn't do that.
Big Bird cage is alright but NO Big Doll House. Women in Cages was pretty bad. If it weren't for the element of women in prison, Judy Brown and Roberta Collins, I would say this film reeked. The corman feel was just not there, nor was the total feminist punch that the Big Doll House packed either.
Trust me, if anybody says that Big Doll House wasn't that good, THEY do NOT know movies.

But I'm the one who started this thread, because I happen to be very fond of this godawful movie. So your advice may be falling on deaf ears...

Release of Big Bird Cage, Big Doll House, and Women in Cages on Blu-Ray. If you don't have a HDTV or Blu-Ray player, go out, buy a Blu-Ray player, hook it up to a DVD using the yellow video cable or component cables, and set it to 480. You'll be happy to have this on Blu-Ray.

I thought this film was a nice'n'nasty entry in the babes-behind-bars exploitation sub-genre. It was a real treat to see Pam Grier in a rare full-blown vilainous part as the sadistic head matron. 8 out of 10 from me.

I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!

I love this movie. Any opinion to the contrary it is irrelevant.
You don't argue with Alabama. You say "yes matron."

You don't get rough. Alabama gets rough.

Do you dig?

I think it's fun. Pam Grier is especially delicious in her change of pace villainous role.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!
