This is a Horror Film (spoilers, possibly)

I have always been addicted to horror movies and have seen almost every horror film you can think of! From Romero's zombie movies, to Nosferatu (1922) it's even getting hard to find good horror I've not yet seen.

However, ever since being a child there was always something creepy and even terrifying about Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. There's something about a film that pretends it's not supposed to scare you or at the very least make you uneasy.

Everybody knows about the infamous Wonkatania boat scene, but just the way that Wonka acts! Pure psychopath/sociopath.

Wonka always tries to assure people that there's no danger in his factory and that his victims will be alright. But how do we know for sure? Just because he says so? The movie ends before we can verify if anybody actually did survive other than Wonka and our "heroes".

Honestly, I've seen MANY horror films that are WAY LESS scary (and they're not even "bad" horror films), so what does that tell you?

I also found some trailers of this film that show it as the horror film it truly is:

Really???

Agreed. I like how they disguised this so perfectly that parents didn't know for sure. Can't think of too many movies like this.

I just saw it for the first time at age 37, yesterday. I'm looking at it from a total adult perspective. Really creepy movie. I liked it, but I guess I see my own 'temptation' issue in this movie. The people of the town were so tempted to see the inside of the factory - which I don't really get the obsession - to where it almost cost everyone their demise. Let's you know that people always want more. Even grandpa jumped out of bed once tempted enough.

Regarding whether or not we knew at the end of the movie whether the other kids were okay: in the book, when the glass elevator rockets up out of the factory, Charlie sees the other kids leaving the factory with their chocolate. They're 'okay' in a sense; Augustus is made of fudge, Violet is purple, Veruca and her father are covered in garbage, and Mike is stretched out tall and thin.

They included that scene in 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.'

It's still got plenty of creepiness to it; Roald Dahl's works generally do have that side to them.

I am not a fan. I just happen to enjoy movies. Fans are embarrassing.

You know what's more scary? People thinking this is a horror movie because they're over analyzing it! 
