The creepiest part of this entire film that no one talks about

Not the boat ride scene...

But the scene where an ominous rail thin man with an entire cart full of butcher knives literally appears out of nowhere and whispers to Charlie.

Here's the thing... we see a wide shot at first and no one is in view but Charlie. But then Charlie turns around and there that creepy old man is with dozen of butcher knives. And when he leaves the cart makes a lot of noise as it rolls across the cobblestone. Yet we never hear the cart make any noise for the man to actually show up in the scene. It's like he's a ghost.

I wonder if he worked for Wonka. This might be when Wonka started to watch and consider Charlie.

reply

Yeah, that's a really odd moment in the movie. No follow up either.

I think it was just to add to the ominous mystery of Wonka's factory since even Grandpa Joe didn't seem to be in the know.

We have to show the world that not all of us are like him: Henning von Tresckow.

Yeah that was totally creepy

reply

They did that because wonka was supposed to be a little quirky and strange like when he faked having a limp at the beginning, from then on you never know if he's lying or telling the truth, therefore you never know what he's up to next
