Racking and stacking with Walt Buckman

Difficult to feel a lot of sympathy for the fate of Walt Buckman (very well played by Karl Malden) after his off hand treatment of the dead cowboy killed on the job by the "jarhead" horse.

Without missing a beat in sending Bodine and Post into town to take the body to the undertakers, he tells them to bring back a replacement for the (far more?)important round-up. The message for us and Bodine and Post I guess is that life was pretty cheap back in those days.
