Shelley in all her frightening glory!!

How would you like to open your door and see Winters all dressed in black and cackling maniacally, "Hello, pets!" I'd have nightmares for months.

She was also effective, but in a much more subtle way, as a loon in WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH HELEN?

And who else just KNEW the teddy bear would get beheaded?

Love this movie!

Shelley Winters was indeed excellent in "What's the Matter With Helen?" and "Whoever Slew Auntie Roo?," both of which were directed by the ever-reliable and shamefully underrated Curtis Harrington. I own the terrific Region 1 MGM flipper DVD which offers both movies as a nifty retro drive-in doublebill.

Don't expect much and you will never be disappointed.

Both movies are terrific, and Ms. Winters is the main reason for it. She was brilliant albeit somehow underrated as an actress, which kind of saddens me. After the turn of her career in the '70s, she deserved much more recognition as a horror icon.
