Was Georgie's character molded after Dylan?

It seemed too obvious with the curly hair, folky music (as opposed to rock), especially the wall-sized line drawing seen at the beginning of the movie when he first calls in a crisis to his psychiatrist, marriage falling apart, the choice of the very Jewish looking Dustin Hoffman all lead to a caricature of Bob Dylan. Was this the intention of the filmmakers? Did other people at the time get that impression?
