die?
I remember this film was famous when it came up, and I presume very good.
But I got about five minutes into it and don't remember if the little boy dies. I think I'd have a hard time continuing if he does.
Does he die or not?
No he doesn't die. You actually see the brother and sister together at the end many years later in their parents' appartment.

Well there's a twist we didn't see coming:)
They both reach civilization at the end of the film but we only revisit the girl and hubby many years later. Assume the boy simply leads another life somewhere else and the experience never impacted on him like the girl so he is not the focus.
