How to retire a millionaire

Read this article about the resale value of the classic muscle cars. I'm not sure what the value of a stripped '55 Chevy would be these days, but GTO could've settled in a small town, worked menial jobs for 30 years, and then sold his car and retired a millionaire. It's amazing the kind of spare change people can throw around these days. Was the average stockbroker laying down a half million dollars back in the 70s for a '57 Chevy??

No they weren't and I've never seen or heard of a 57 Chevrolet sell for $50Ok.

I saw all the cars sell on the live broadcast of the Barrett-Jackson auction on TV as mentioned in the NY Times article. They did sell a 1957 Corvette "show car" prototype/concept with a fold away hardtop at one of their auctions. Although I don't recall the amount it sold for, it's possible that it sold for that much. But I don't believe a '57 Chevrolet passenger car has ever sold for a 1/2 million.

After watching the Barrett-Jackson auctions from Scottsdale AZ and Palm Beach FL again this year, I would speculate that the day is coming when a '57 Belair Convertible or Nomad will probably bring $500,000.

Scums like that are the reason an average joe like myself can't afford a classic Mopar, which sucks because I'm a hardcore mopar guy.

Names thunderbird because all I can afford is a ford... bastards.

If you look hard enough, you can find a decent mopar for under 10K...I did! And I don't make a lot of money but I've been wanting a muscle car for forever and yeah, just look on ebay, craigslist and your local newspaper.

just forget about having the top models-challengers, cudas, 68-70 chargers, all out of the question really...but a charger post 70, dusters, just keep an eye out man and best of luck.
