Straight To Hell

While watching this film, I kept thinking of Alex Cox's STRAIGHT TO HELL. Both films do a really good job showing chaos, desperation, and sweltering heat. A TOWN CALLED HELL deserves a better DVD transfer. The DVD I saw was horribly cropped, and could have been colour-timed better.

Otherwise, a good story and alegory on the human condition!

Where is the humanity? Where's the ram a lama? Where's Lord Blears and Andy Hardy? Is there in fact no beauty? Along with all that this thing, for all its star power absolutely reeks of grade B sludge like it belonged as the last flick on a drive-in triple feature. What a mess!

What is the sound an imploding pimp makes?

They were high when they made this film, a film for people who are high.

I thought it was a very good movie with a very strong atmosphere, an excellent rendering of dust and heat, a good plot and cast. I don't get how it could receive such bad ratings and comments.

All I recall is something of a mess.
It doesn't say here how Shaw's role had also been a gunfighter in a flashback scene with a popular song (in the background)from the 1950s which told of the War of 1812 battle of New Orleans. Telly's role is overdone.

I saw this as part of a double feature with another film with famous faces.
Don't recall the title or stars.
