4K Scan Review

The latest release from Shout Select's line of titles in which this and FIST OF FURY (aka THE CHINESE CONNECTION) have been re-released looks the best the film has ever looked. The new commentary is amusing, but still no sign of the Deleted Scenes that were cut by the censors after the film's initial theatrical release in 1971. Instead, the features on the disc are identical to the ones previously released on BD from the regular Shout Factory label (the only addition being the commentary by super fan Brandon Bentley). The 4K scans of both films were identical (per Shout Select) to the releases in Hong Kong. So really nothing new here. If only Shout Factory had taken the initiative to produce these 4K scans when the movies were originally released (instead of the shoddy discs that they did release in 2013) this release would be completely unnecessary. Still kind of is.
