I saw this film years ago at the AFI in DC with Forman introducing the film and talking about his career in Czechoslavakia and Hollywood. One young woman in the audience said she had been one of the singers auditioning in the movie.

Forman said THE FIREMAN'S BALL caused all the firefighters in the town where it was filmed to go on strike.

Somebody asked Forman about Nurse Ratched and if he thought what she did in "Cuckoo's Nest" was right. "We have a saying in Czechoslakia. 'You can never defeat stupidty, but that is no reason to stop fighting it."
