One of the strangest films i've seen

From what i had heard about this, i expected it to be a slightly more classy rape-revenge film. I'm not actually sure how i feel about it after literally just watching it... I'm still digesting it.

We have a very well shot rape scene... until the wife starts enjoying it. Sorry, but i don't buy it, that guy was sleazy enough as it is. It seemed at first they were trying to imply she was imagining David and that is why she reciprocated after a while, and then after she holds her rapist for comfort. I've never been raped so i don't know, but it seems unlikely to me whether you have a history with a person or not.

Then for some reason she doesn't tell him. Shame? Guilt? Or just a strange and out of character plot device that doesn't actually serve any purpose making the rape scene more or less redundant. We know by the end of it, and lets face it, from the start that they are low life scum. If you're going to have such a fiercely emotional and disturbing scene it should do something to the plot.

Then David protects a pedophile while half the village storm his house. I understand this, but then when he starts actually trying it on with the wife, he doesn't seem to concerned.

I dunno, these are just my thoughts. For the most part the acting and cinematography are excellent, but the structure and plot itself is all over the place. I'm really not sure how to feel, it has a Cohen brothers feel to the confusion, but lacking the charm....

I thought that was odd too. If I was David and that guy started attacking my wife like that I'd toss him out the nearest window and yell to the guys that want him 'Here ya go!'

Seriously where the hell is this pedophile thing coming from?
