I nevdr understood what was going on. It as though she wanted it but didnt then seemed to have liked it, until the othetd rapef her

reply

I didn't understand it either. She didn't seem very frightened, and didn't struggle, did she? This detracted from the film, in my opinion.

i agree

Some women don't fight because they're afraid that will make the attacker even more violent. That doesn't mean it isn't rape. Lack of consent = rape.

welcome to the true mysterious world of women.

What I didn't understand was why she never told David about it.

Some people don't understand subtext, clinging to the "no" she said in the beginning. So many mistakes she made before the attack, though I think they weren't mistakes - her eyes said it all... "Do you want a drink?" *flirty eyes* - she's a dumb a$s ho and wanted it big time. When a woman wants to say "I DONT WANT TO FK YOU", she wont have her eyes locked and breathe deeply like she's got a waterfall down there, aiight? She wont invite the guy in knowing she's in a towel and will be 1-on-1 with him and offer him a drink while the whole time shooting the "bang me" eyes. Plus they had a sex history, no way that guy would be allowed in, unless.. she wanted it. She's a player.

Ridiculous how people call this scene rape. Yeah he's a friggin' beast but she knew that - as mentioned by a previous poster it is possible when they "went out" before, they did it "rough". Perhaps that's what she missed - Dustin's okely dokely style tappin' was not sparking the flame as much.

Rape victim doesn't lay there in ecstasy, smiling after the rape as if it was just what the doctor ordered and she's on cloud 7. She wanted Charlie, and she enjoyed it. At some point he stopped and she even fkin encouraged him, kissing and pulling him towards her. Pf. Maybe people blocked these details out I dunno but it's clear she wanted Charlie. Want to see what rape looks like? The second guy, there you go, and she couldn't do *beep* cuz Charlie was holding her down.

Anyways, she's a stupid woman with no morals, played with fire, thought she could have her cake and eat it too, well surprise she got hers and then some...

In the remake they tried to make it "seem" like she was more against it, but she wanted him too - that's the way both these films are set up. Old flame that didn't go out, a "what if", temptation leading to pain and emotional scarring. Just stay single and swing from branch to branch. When you settle, cmon, don't be an a$$...

IT was rape!!!!!! She said no and he should have been the gentleman and leave her alone and get the fact they are over and she is married.

reply

You child. If she didn't want him she wouldn't have offered a drink and invited him in with flirty eyes.

reply

Hey dude!!!! It doesn't matter what she did flirting, offering him a drink or even if she invited him in, no on invites anyone to rape her, he didn't stop and he didn't stop the other guy from raping her. They are rapist and they deserved all they got.

reply

She didn't invite the rape, she invited to be banged. What are you, 5..?
Edit: Are we talking about the same movie here??? He even stops tapping her at some point and is reluctant to continue, and she puts her arms on him and gestures for him to continue and kisses passionately..... you must be trolling

Next you are going to tell me is that because she had an orgasm that means that it wasn't rape, right?

How many times has a woman asked her "rapist" to "hold me" and made out with him after her "rape"? They are clearly seen lying next to each other, kissing and fondling warmly, right before the second guy enters with the gun. She must have really been disgusted with her rapist to act like that.

If you recall the part where a woman has an orgasm during the rape the hold me may happen to. Again it is out of fear of what he might do to her, by complying with her attacker's intention she had a chance at surviving. It's happened in some cases.

Posters, ignore this woman, she be crazy.

No means no, you sick fuck.

I had a girlfriend who believed that rape was the most natural form of sex and that women don't truly understand what a real orgasm is until they've been raped.

Admittedly, she was a bit fucked up but Christ, she was amazing in the sack.

I hope she never had a daughter. (Or a son, come to think of it.) Imagine THAT talk when the child was about 12....

This sick scene could have only come from the imagination of a man. This movie certainly wouldn't be considered a classic if it was released today.

Beautiful scene, very ambiguous and clearly shows the intended interpretation that she asked for that fobidden fruit and then enjoyed it, as a hidden defiance against her husband, which I feel is what the filmmaker wanted for the audience to consider, she loved the guy who raped her in a way, and yet no asnwers are given of what she really feels and wishes, not what she says, the film is essentially an exploration of what happens when people don't express what they feel, never say what they mean, inauthenticity, lack of communication, the emotional outburst at the end is that repressed energy coming out like an explosion, mainly refering to Dustin's character, the truth in the form of released pent up anger was all that was needed, no answers needed.
