What were they all laughing at?

Was what I think they were all cracking up about really that funny?

I'm guessing you are talking about the ending sequences. I feel that the father and the brothers understood why Lorent sneaks out at night, and all(father especially) understand that he is a "man" now. They all realize what he did overnight and are happy for him.

if you don't understand why they're all laughing in the film's denouement (and, j.m.o., but there's more than one reason), you probably weren't paying close enough attention...

What I loved was the look on the mother's face -- almost as if she had been betrayed.

I got it straight-away why they were laughting. Lorent's comin-of-age was something the father had been waiting for, despite Loren'ts propensity for mischief and general naughtieness.

I took it they were laughing at his embarrassment for being discovered returning from a nocturnal liaison; more specifically, at the fact that they didn't need to ask where he'd been, and that he would have been too embarrassed to say.
