Linda Lawson

Jaeckel's wife (Ms. Linda Lawson) was the lead in NIGHT TIDE with Dennis Hopper as the "mermaid". Anyone seen it? She was a wonderful singer as well.

I wanted her role to be bigger. She was such a lovely and sexy addition to the cast. Everyone looked so blonde, bland and Waspish next to her exotic charm.

wow. spooky.

'sometimes a great notion' is one of the most memorable movies
i'll ever see and i've seen it around a half dozen times over the years

and before reading your comment i never realized linda lawson was "mora!"
the mermaid from that strange&weird but to me unforgettable old dennis hopper movie
i have to say wow! again

if you'll permit me a little story about 'that weird dennis hopper
flick with a mermaid in it' - that's how i recalled the movie that i now
- thanks to you - know was actually titled 'night tide'

as a very little kid say 6 or 7 i remember vividly but not too fondly
one night (actually early summertime pre dawn) waking up to
sounds of a man crying out the name, 'mora' 'mora!' 'morahhhhh!'

groggily i realized the sounds were coming from the tv - an off-white colored plastic portable w/ rabbit-ear antennae (one ear broken off w/ a coat hanger jammed down the broken off stem)

i was the 2nd youngest of 5 kids in a single mom household (actually small apartment above a raucous blue collar tavern) times were tough obviously
but not unhappy

anyway i must've fallen asleep on the couch and whoever had let me stay up late to watch tv with them had evidently left the television on when they went to bed
leaving me alone in the frontroom

being awakened from a deep sleep that disoriented semi-awake semi-asleep feeling where you don't know where you're at or what's going on?
the only light in the darkened room was coming from the tv screen y'know that eerie black&white glow that casts scary shadows off all the furntiture in the room? at least from a little kid's point of view anyway
i looked at the tv and it was showing some man was walking around under a pier shouting out a woman's name

'mora ... mora! ... morahhhh!'

i'll never forget the experience of that moment
and over the years when for whatever reason that memory pops back in my
mind it unnerves me still

so it turns out linda lawson was in two of the most memorable movies i've ever seen and i didn't even recognize it - or her

what a very cool surprise to read your comment
thank you
i learned something today i did not know yesterday
nothing earth shattering of course but a personal mystery solved
now i know thw name of 'that weird dennis hopper mermaid flick' <grin>

'night tide' wow what a weird moment that was
dennis hopper i've always liked him but man ... just a weird movie

i think it should only be watched in the very early pre dawn (late late
show style) and you have to start watching after having been wakened
- startled - out of a deep sleep

mora .... mora!
linda lawson - the beautiful exotic movie mermaid and joe ben stamper's
enticing wife

hooray for hollywood baby
thanks again
peace from back east

I was lucky enough to meet her a couple of years ago. I met her at a celebrity show. She had also worked with Gardner MacKay, so I was very interested in meeting her. She agreed that Michael was a very good looking guy as Gardner Mackay. She was very sweet. I enjoyed talking to her that day...

On top of being a fine actress and vocalist, I've always felt that she was quite beautiful.
