Rights to The Snow Goose

I just received a reply from Hallmark regarding this movie. Unfortunately, Hallmark does not own the rights to this Hallmark Hall of Fame production. The rights are held by Universal Studios. Maybe if enough people send Universal email regarding the movie something will be done.

Is Universal making the new film? My guess is they bought the copyright to the old film along with the film rights. If so I doubt the old film will ever be released again because they won't want it to take sales from their picture.

I think that if Universal currently holds the rights to Snow Goose and are remaking The Snow Goose, they will probably (at some point) re-release the 1971 BBC hour-long version, just capitalize on the profits.
When a remake comes out, there's always interest in the first film, or the book etc...like the Douglas Adams "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" and others. It's still all about money.

I read where Jenny Agutter was asked why the film hasn't been re-released on VHS or DVD. She said that the problem or hold up of the 1971 version was something to do with the Paul Gallico estate and Universal.

Curious.
