DVD release of Skin Game?

One of the most under-rated films of all time. Funny and touching with James Garner and Louis Gossett Jr. giving outstanding performances. Has a lot to say and tackles some serious issues while still being hilarious. Warner Bros, let's get a DVD release!

I agree 100 percent with you! This is a very funny film, with serious subject matters tackled. James Garner and Louis Gossett Jr. are great in this movie. They are so funny. Please release this on DVD.

Wow, finally somebody else makes a post about this film. I was just randomly checking to see and sure enough 13 hours ago you posted! Spooky. I've emailed Warner Bros about releasing a DVD in the past and got nowhere. Maybe if two people email them though!

The Friends of Eddie Coyle needs to be released on DVD!

I, too, have just discovered that there's no DVD edition of this movie. I was wondering if it hasn't been released on DVD because its subject matter is potentially offensive.

reply

That is probably a pretty good guess, DHD99, that the DVD hasn't been released because the partly comedic treatment of the subject matter (slavery) is potentially offensive. Not too many comedies about slavery out there---though Family Guy and Chappelle's show have both ventured into that territory recently. It was a risky thing for the movie to do, but I think they handled it well & it definitely deserves a quality DVD release.

The trouble is that any subject matter is potentially offensive because so many people have nothing better to do than whine about something they don't like. Unfortunately it seems that certain bodies listen to them, and are trying to take the decision upon themselves regarding what we are allowed to watch as adults for "our own good".

I hope this isn't the case with The Skin Game as it is a classic. One thing to remember is that this is a film - it's not real. It's also a comedy with a message (and one that doesn't get crammed down your throat like some American films do) and it has 2 great actors who have a very good on screen rapport.

This film definately deserves a DVD release !

I do have it on DVD, if it helps anyone.

You've GOT it on DVD?? Was it just released? Is it a legitimate copy, or a bootleg, or what?

Where did you find this on DVD? It's only on VHS as far as I know. Please share with us where you found this movie on DVD.
