Not a bad adaptation, but read the novel

Really. Murdoch's book is witty, extraordinary in a way that the film doesn't entirely capture (few novels, of course, are afforded entire justice in two hours). I first read the book as I was pretty much living the interpersonal dynamics of the story thirty years ago. The film is well worth a look.
