music/soundtrack

does anyone know if the soundtrack or any of the music from the movie is available on cd/vinyl/tape? i love the music from the opening credits, and most of the music through out. or if anyone knows the composer (i don't own a copy to check it out) if it might be on a disk/tape of theirs.

According to Soundtrackcollector.com, it was never released in any form.

I'm watching the film right now, and yes, the music is (so far) quite striking.

Wow, it would be amazing if they ever released this as a soundtrack some day... we can all hope.

I'm rewatching this for the first time in over twenty years... and the music is splendid.

I remember taping this off tv in the summer before 9th grade...
after watching it, me and a couple friends made our own movie re-make of it with the family video camera... My friend Elissa played the blind girl part, my friend Matt played the aunt and the villain... we had a blast!

See No Evil is a haunting, romantic mystery to chill your bones on those rainy, Saturday afternoons. Definitely worth watching. Mia Farrow is a real treat!

The soundtrack is by Elmer Bernstein.

Originally, the producers hired Andre Previn, Mia Farrow's husband at the time, for the score. Previn wrote a dramatic and tense score, appropriate to the movie, but the producers were hoping for a "pop" music score with a theme song that might become a hit single. Previn pointed out that such a score would be completely inappropriate for the picture. They rejected his score and hired Elmer Bernstein to do it their way. Bernstein agreed with Previn, and delivered a dramatic, symphonic score. By this time, the producers figured that they had spent enough, so they released the picture with Bernstein's score. No hit single, but a terrific score!

I fell in love with the music in this film. That swirling music as we watch the leaves on the driveway swirling ...and then the shell casing.. I haven't seen this film in twenty-five years and I still remember that scene so clearly because the music gave me chills.

Why hasn't some tech savvy wiz captured this soundtrack and uploaded it? When I taped this off TV a decade or so ago, the soundtrack was the first thing that stuck me - it was stunning!

Yes, I totally agree with you. Why hasn't someone somewhere put this wonderful thing on a cd!

YES!! i'm so glad that i wasn't the only one who's been grieving over the loss of the soundtrack. i contacted the company that handles his soundscores, and they said no release has ever been issued for it, which i think is sad because it is a GORGEOUS score for a movie or music in general.

I'd love a CD with BOTH scores for comparison.

There are many scores from this era which sound dated, but I was very impressed with the Bernstein score and feel that it has "legs."

reply

or a dvd with both scores, just to see which would have been better!

AMAZING! Thanks for the backstory!

The music is wonderful: it really is something special.

i contacted the company/studio directly too, and it was never released which surprised me considering the quality of it. how nice it would be to listen to it during the autumn
