This might be the movie I am looking for. Help! (spoiler)

'This is a movie where you see a baby chimpanzee or gorilla being left in a
sewer while the mother is being killed above ground? (At the end of the movie) The animals are the same size as humans or smaller, so no 'King Kong'. :)
Horror movie. (I think)
I am looking for the title of this movie, and I thought maybe this was the one. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it. I have been looking a long time for this movie.
So far no one has any clue about this movie. Probably shot around the 60's - 70 or early 80's in what could be California.
(It is not 'Escape from the Planet of the Apes' 'King Kong Lives' or 'Link')'

okay, it's three years since you asked, but maybe you still check here every now and then.

isn't the moviue you're looking for simply the third part of the original planet of the apes series? the baby chimpanzee is not in the sewer, but wrapped in a blanket, and they're on a ship.
