I like Lee's Dracula WAY better when he talks

Whenever Lee is on screen and conversating with someone else, the way he speaks with such an emotionless and monotone voice is so eerie and unnerving. He just has that creepy and ominous presence, and the deadpan delivery of his dialogue really enhances that. I think Dracula: Prince of Darkness is a better movie than Scars of Dracula, but I definitely prefer the talkative Lee from this one to the silent Lee from that film. I'm not saying he isn't still menacing as a mute bloodsucker, which he is, but I honestly find him scarier when he is talking to someone and subtly taunting them. Makes him seem like a more cunning and calculating psychopath than an animalistic monster (which Lee is still good at, but works better for someone like the Frankenstein Monster).

I think this movie is underrated and wish we could have seen more of this type of Dracula from the Hammer films.

Watched it for the first times in ages again last night and thought the same thing. He's wasted in too many Dracula films where he's just there for his imposing physical presence. The film is fairly wretched though - the dialogue even more risable than usuaL. It's a testament to the acting skills of Patrick Troughton and Michael Ripper that it's even vaguely watchable.
