welles magic tricks

it's weird to watch this film since the night before i'd watch orson welles' own ''f for fake" where he does magic tricks in that film then i see this film which keeps cutting to him doing magics tricks of the same sort and he looks almost the same as he does in f for fake except for difference clothes obviously.

So any explanation for how Orson Welles conducted those magic tricks, particularly the dollar that crawls to him across the chessboard. Was it accomplished with a fishing line, or was it indeed magic (or magick, or magik, I'm such a novice on these matters)?

That particular one is with a fishing line. It's tied to the dollar bill, through his clothes, to his other hand. When he pulls the wire with his left hand, the bill will move towards his right one. That's also how the bill tends to disappear out of his hand, with one big yank.

The rest, i don't know though.

In some shots during the floating orb tricks you can actually see the wire. It's pretty obvious on the Blu-ray anyway. Maybe it isn't so obvious on the DVD.
