Gian Maria Volonté and Riccardo Cucciolla

These two actors delivered excellent performances. I watched this movie because of Volonté, because I'm a huge fan of his screen presence and acting style, but Cucciolla's subdued, less histrionic performance was an excellent counterpoint to Volonté's more showy work. They complemented each other very well on the screen; Cucciolla was especially poignant in the last third of the movie, when they're sentenced to death. You can see all hope and strength to live slowly abandon him as the story progresses. I think he had fewer lines than Volonté, but he expressed so much with just his eyes.

This is an excellent movie, there are many reasons to watch it, but above all because of the fine acting.

This world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel.

I saw Sacco and Vanzetti in South America when I was an adolescent. It was a hit there, as it was in Europe. The score and the ballad ¨Here is to you¨ are unforgettable, after all these years. The story touched me and my sister deeply. I haven't seen the film again since then. I only viewed video clips in You tube, which moved me to the core. I am looking forward to seeing the film again but I refuse to watch the new release dubbed in English.

As a personal note for film distributors or producers, I´d like to say that all serious enthusiasts of foreign classic films, enjoy to watch films in their original language. Much is lost in translation and in the case of Sacco and Vanzetti´s new release in dubbed English, it is not the protagonists´ voice nor of the other actors except for Cyril Cusack´s and Milo O'Shea´s, who have secondary parts.

I hope that in the near future, there will be a new release or a revised version with subtitles in its original Italian language, as it is done with all good, likeable and well-known classic films. This is a big classic from the 70s. It has been shown in countries over the world. A new release in its original language with subtitles would be welcomed internationally. I look forward to it.
