If Hollywood going to do a remake...

which actors should do it?
and which director is mostly suited for this kind of a movie?

reply

there´s no remake necessary: the film is perfect!

(but if they did (grrrr!): i think that joaquin phoenix should act in it)

Doing the remake of such a PERFECT film by Hollywood producers would just be one of the greatest shames in movies' history.

reply

very unlikely. not as long the same system, who killed
s&v in the first place, is ruling this country. no way.

alone the message what this film is pointing at with,
makes this impossible for the US to even acknowledge
such a great film (compare the attention to US movies,
with less cinematic quality).

and besides:
a pro-anarchist and anti-capitalist movie, with one
of the best examples for the well hidden fascism in
the US, made in hollwood?

come on... *wink* no way the US does this without changing
everything this movie was about or only reducing it to the
plot, and tone out all the real controversial politics this
original movie stands for.

it would be the same shrugg i felt, when i heard,
that there will be a "ché"-movie coming from hollywood.

history-telling made in the U.S. by peo-
ple who reduce movies to making money ???

no, thanks.

"best/worst-movie-ever"-idiots don't deserve to watch movies at all ...

Definitively, Martin Scorsese or Francis Ford Copolla, because of their italian origins. The first knows how to approach in a detailed way to bio-pic characters. In the other hand, Coppola is the best to recreate the whole atmosphere in Boston on those days.

I agree with diehexe2000, Martin Scorsese or Francis Copolla, however, Clint Eastwood is also capable of recreating the film, despite not having Italian descendence.
Having said this, even though I agree with a previous poster who said that the original film is great and it should not be recreated, a recreation of the film would be the only way to bring the story back to memories and be known to those who do not know about it. There are a lot of people in the US with an open mind who would welcome the film.
Now, let's find a way to propose the film to these three directors.

Further, I am editing to say that even though he is capable, I do not think that Clint Eastwood would engage in the production of a remake of this film. Oliver Stone would definitely go for it and he would be very good at it.

A new release of the film has come out but only in Italian or English with no subtitles. As a serious enthusiast of foreign classic films, I refuse to watch a dubbed version because much is lost in translation and in the case of Sacco and Vanzetti, it is not the protagonists´ voice nor of the other actors except for Cyril Cusack´s and Milo O'Shea´s, who have secondary parts.

I hope that in the near future there will be a new release or a revised version with subtitles in its original Italian language, as it is done with all good, very likeable and well-known classic films. This is a big classic from the 70s. It has been shown in countries over the world. A new release in its original language with subtitles would be welcomed internationally. I look forward to it.
