song lyrics

The version of Daughters of Darkness that originally played in US theatres and
on television was somewhat different than the version available on DVD.
The editing is a little tighter and the pace is slightly quicker, plus the
opening credits and main theme included lyrics. These were sung in an eerie
style reminiscent of Marlene Dietrich.

Whispering through the night,

Wings.......wings.......

Silently sliced the darkness,

Soft as a breath,

Quiet as death,

Death with the face of love,

Sings.......sings.......

Voice with a trace of sadness,

Sweeter than wine,

Older than Time,

She offers you escape,

Fly...fly...fly...

Don't let the sunlight find you,

Or you will fade

And die......

The soundtrack is really excellent on both versions, and I would like
to find out more about the composer. Unfortunately, it appears that he
died years ago and I don't believe that many of his other films
are available here in the US.

I was hooked me right away by the opening theme to Daughters of Darkness and the train scene - a great mix of direction and editing.

Francois de Roubaix died in a diving accident aged only 36. There's a good site at http://www.francoisderoubaix.com - it is, however, entirely in french. does include a discography and filmography, though and links to amazon france where applicable.

http://www.moviegrooves.com/shop/francoisderoubaix.htm has various albums and compilations, including playable demos.

As a matter of interest for those who loves this film (and its music), the late Rozz Williams (formerly of the death rock band Christian Death) did a quite astounding cover of this song, under the alias of Bloodflag. The track can be found, as far as I know, on two gothic compilations from Cleopatra Records, Merry Maladies and one other devolved to vampires song whose name I can't recall.
Definitely worth checking - indeed, I searched for the movie because of the song.
Cheers!
