R rated? Really?

This was originally GP (before it became PG) then re-rated to an R upon rerelease. Why? Aside from the somewhat brutal attack on the family at the beginning nothing here warrants an R rating. There's no nudity, sex or swearing. The violence is pretty restrained too. Heck the original had much more violence and blood and that still carries a PG rating!

I completely agree! The original IMO should get the R if one had too. I think PG-13 would have been fine for this

It is a bit strange. I noticed it as well on the back of the DVD. As you said, the first film had more sex, violence, and blood so it ought to be the one rated R if they have to give either one an R rating. I think both films should be PG.
