In the opening scene, Von Richthofen is shown flying a Pfalz D.III, flying too low and hitting his undercarriage against a tree. Was that plane a leftover from "The Blue Max," which had been made about 5 years earlier? P.S. In real life, Von Richthofen is not known to have ever flown the Pfalz, at least not in action.
