Clint's home

Back in the 80s, I was told the house in the movie (I believe the one on the cliffs) was actually Clint Eastwood's Carmel home, that they filmed in. This trivia came from someone that actually lived in the area at the time.

I have never had this confirmed, though. I've searched online, and even the boards here, to no avail. Has anyone else heard this rumor? Can it be confirmed or denied?

Help! Lol.

In the documentary 'Play it Again... A Look Back at Play Misty for Me' from 2001, the producer of the film Robert Daley says, "Clint's house was owned by someone called Malcolm", and then he goes on say "Clint knew the house on the cliff". From that I would assume the answer is no, it wasn't Clint's real home, he just knew of its existence before location scouting.

Actually the house was sold last year for $4.5 million after initially being listed at $5.7 million. You can read about it here if interested:

What I want to know is how a DJ for a small town jazz station could afford a place like that??

reply

The house discussed in this thread and shown in the real estate article isn't the one Dave, the DJ, lived in. IT's the one Toby lived in. The one where Evelyn died.

My dad was a DJ at a few different stations in California when I was a kid and we could barely afford a 1200 square foot tract house. But I know, it's a movie, not a documentary about DJs.
