Is this appropriate for a 10 year old?

I was in the shop not long ago and my 10 year old daughter rushed up to me with this big, pink cardboard box in her hand. There is a photo of a boy with pointed "elf" ears, playing a flute. But the back cover has some very bizarre and disturbing photos of half naked men in dog collars and chains! My daughter wants to see it as it just looks like a piece of pretty candy! So, is it appropriate for a 10 year old?

Yeah, it'll be fine.

You could get it for her when she's having a sleepover then all her little friends can watch it too!

Just make sure you get enough popcorn to go round!

xD

I'd love to know if that 10 year old girl did get to see Pink Narcissus. I don't think there's anything particularly disturbing or inappropriate for a child of that age, but I'm sure most children would become totally bored with the slow drifting narrative.

Actually she is 11 now, and she did get to see 'Pink Narcissus.' She was quite mesmerized by the bright, garish colors, and she really loved the crazy and erratic music played throughout. She is not your typical kid, and she is being raised around artists and creative people. At 11 Ava already is learning her third language and she has seen alot of the world. I had no problem showing the girl a film that contained nothing more than some male nudity; i dont think it is in the least bit harmful. i raise my kids to be open-minded and non-judgemental, and the only things in this world that are "bad" are hatred, prejudice, and violence. Thanks for you response!

You are the parents that dreams are made of! Ava's a lucky girl.

You would have done a great job trolling, if you had actually watched the film, or at least taken a closer look at the packaging.
Pink Narcissus is packaged in mostly black casing, yes the film still has been colored pink, but it's of the title character as a Roman Emperor surrounded by his harem of lovers, not a "elfin boy playing the flute."
Not to mention it uses reviews like "A LUSH ENCOUNTER OF THE EROTIC KIND" and "part underground extravaganza, part romantic porn." The onlty images on the back are of the title character lighting a candle, and sitting in bed in only a short kimono and boots, oh yes and another review describing the film as a piece of erotic cinema, and a lengthy plot synopsis.
There's no men in chaings anywhere on the packaging. There's is a very brief appearance of a man in chains, and this is why I find your comment highly suspect, the scene would probably be labeled pornographic if reviewed by the MPAA since it features a lot more than just male nudity. There are scenes of characters masturbating and engaging in sexual intercourse. If you had researched the film before trying to troll you would have found out that the director disowned the project for years because the company that financed the completion of the film- a porn company- insisted something more explicit be added.
Nice try, but... FAIL TROLL.

Sorry, un-informed conclusion jumper; The dvd that I'm talking about, and the one we OWN, is the GERMAN dvd, from you know, GERMANT?? It's in Europe. My dvd is housed in an oversized PINK cardboard box, with a photo of the main guy dressed like an elf with a flute in his hand and pointed ears. Inside the dvd box comes a set of 10 color postcards. How pathetic of you to not consider the fact that i am not in stupid america, or that i have a FOREIGN dvd. And I get called a "troll" by what has to be the dumbest, most arrogant prick i think i have encountered here. i wish there was "America Protection" for the web, like virus protection, that could filter out dumb, unimportant comments from dumb, bloated Americans. Man, you must be one angry, bitter queen... You FAIL, at life, it seems..

It's a different DVD cover. My copy also has the "elfin boy playing the flute" on the cover, and none of the reviews that you mention are on the back cover of this one.

Next time, think before you type.

As 'justinm57' said it had way more than male nudity, but masturbation and sexual intercourse. Also, he never said he is from America.
