BUY THIS FILM! The greatest bike movie made during biking's golden age

Beg, borrow or steal a copy of this film if you haven't seen it - it's the greatest ever biker flick, made in the style of a documentary with no disguising the maker's love of motorcycles. I saw it 20 years ago, and have only recently tracked down another copy.

It's a snapshot of all types of motorcycle sport at the beginning of the seventies, when men were men and women made the sandwiches. Even non-motorcyclists will enjoy the humour and affection in this film, together with interesting biogs of the stars of the day. It's like six 'Rocky' stories packed into one film, with the bonus that it all actually happened (I like the hillclimb story best).

The music is just amazing, and again underlines the film as a period piece of the early seventies. Oh, and there's amazing footage of Steve McQueen proving that he could walk the talk when it came to riding - some really impressive stuff (and wipeouts)

'Awesome' is such an overused word. But this movie is awesome. Go get it.

I agree. It's a great snapshot of all types of motorcycle riding in the early seventies. I watched this in the theater when it first came out, and I was about 15. What's interesting is how the sport has changed as far as image. Notice even the pro's are out there in what ever worn out miss-matched leathers and sweatshirts making just enough money to maintain their bikes and pay for travel. They are all their own mechanics. Today everyone has corporate sponsors and a team of mechanics.

Yeah you had to see this if you rode. Great when Smith rode up widowmaker on a stock Husky 250 much to the embarrassment of the hillclimbers.

It's a great movie, but it's not quite about all kinds of motorcycle racing. Brown shot a lot of footage of speedway racing in southern California in 1970, early in the sport's revival in the U.S. Unfortunately, it was cut from the final version of the film.
