R-1 DVD quality?

I see a lot of copies of this popping up on ebay. Looks like it's fullscreen and subtitled but there's no indication of how good it looks or if there's any extras or anything. Is it a quality disc or just a cheap VHS transfer?

well thank you very much for the replies. I went ahead and bought it anyway. The quality IS excellent, it's anamorphic 16x9, very well subtitled (though some subs go by too quickly to read), and has two trailers.

Also, it's a very good film. Why has nobody cared to buy this DVD? It's expensive, but a very good Japanese war movie (aren't they all?). We need more of them on DVD but apparently there is no interest here in the states, despite LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA. I am frustrated because there are a bunch of good ones out there - Rengu Kantai, Kamikaze Pilot, Hill 203, Admiral Yamamoto, etc. and none are available on DVD in the US because apparently nobody cares about them!!

What is WRONG with you people?!?

Good picture, but mine has a nasty buzz in the soundtrack. It's a good movie apart from the combat, which looks cheap. It does seem to be quite scathing of the high command and the military code of honour, which is refreshing.

I liked this film but as a depiction of combat, found it lacking. The Japanese film industry at it's height couldn't pull off a major battle film. Also, way too characters to follow and seemingly all are dead by the end so who told the tale? The idea that the Japanese could have won this battle if HQ haven't made some mistakes is ludicris, they were done by 1945 they just didn't want to be believe it.
