The horses

OK, here's a question after one viewing: Were the knight templars' horses 'ghost' horses, too? I guess they HAD to be ... Since they apparently were ghosts, were they also blind? Or was having seeing horses what made the mounted knights more efficient in running people down than the monks on foot?

Another thought: Had the girl been a better horseman (horsewoman?), could she possibly have gotten away on the ghost horse? Or, would it have let the others catch it anyway?

Or, am I guilty of putting more thought into this than the creators did? LOL

In the next film of the series, The Return of the Evil Dead, we learn that the horses are dead like their masters.

But then, I'm surprised that they would let an ordinary human ride one. Much of the story makes no sense even on its own terms, but it is worth watching for the beautiful Gothic ruins and the undead Templars, themselves. There is something about their look that gives me the shivers. They are corpses with leathery skin which fits tightly over their skeletal structure and they are wrapped up in hooded cloaks which look just as filthy and corrupted as they do and are almost the same color and texture as their skin. Very weird, especially riding horses throgh the graveyard at night.

It bugged me that the horses looked completely normal, since the riders were skeletons!
