What do you think happend to Tracy after the last scene?

SPOILER AHEAD

My guess is Tracy was killed by a Charles Possessed Quentin who then resumed living at Collinwood with a resurrected Angelique as his new bride, and for a plot twist have Tracy come back as a ghost who is doomed to occupy the house and be eternally tormented by the sight of her husband living a new life with another woman.
Another theory is instead of getting killed by Quentin/Charles her life got spared after being blackmailed by Angelique to assume the role of Collinwood's new housekeeper with Carlotta and Gerard kept around as ghosts to keep her inline in case she tried to escape the estate.

Interesting speculation. Either way, "NODS" is definitely missing a "last act", somethign I realized with a vengeance the night I first sat thru "THE HAUNTED PALACE" (which is almost the same story-- except, MUCH better).

I think your first theory was right. I believe he killed Tracy and then continued living at Collinwood with Angelique as his bride. After all those years, she finally had her revenge. This is a wonderful movie and the ending is a big part of what makes it memorable. It's one of my favorite endings I've ever seen in a horror movie.

I thought Angelique took possession of Tracey's body, so they can live in Collinwood as Tracy and Quention, but really being Charles and Angelique. This is why Clair and Alex were killed, because they would have recognized them as Charles and Angelique.

Just my thoughts as to how I see it.
