How does it start?

When I play the tape it starts right at the title of the movie, but it looks like there was at least one scene before it. I tried rewinding it, but it just shuts the tape off. I read something about the cult drowning a girl in a forced baptism and the title does seem to appear over a shot of people at a lake. Is that the opening scene of the movie? Anyway, just please explain to me in detail how the movie opens so I can know what I missed.
