Oh, do see it again if you can - I think you'll find it worth your while.

The story is practically the same, with only details (OK, important details, but still) changed.
But Albert Finney is truly frightening in this movie.
(I am glad I didn't see this as a child...!)
Overall, I think it's one of his best performances- and that's saying a lot!

And that box... :) That's done in the best Hitchcockian tradition.
We never SEE what's in there - but we know.
So, yes: I think what you thought was in there, really WAS in there.
<shudder>


P.S. I am assuming you saw the 1964 version?
Because there is a much earlier (1934) version, too.
