With Jack Weston coming in second, I really think George Rose's performance is the highlight of this film. Every line he speaks is flawless in its' delivery. Walter Matthau's facial expressions and voice are fantastic, but he does not do as well with his lines - it's as if he doesn't have enough breath to deliver long whole sentences.

What a tragedy that George Rose's life ended in homicide at the young age of 68; he was murdered in the Caribbean by a young man to whom he had been a benefactor. But he is immortal in this wonderful film.

Yes, he certainly IS. So memorable in his role, here. I love this film and each actor had such a big contribution to it. Sad, I didn't realize how he died. RIP, Mr. Rose.

I remember George Rose also in Holocaust with Rosemary Harris, Meryl Streep and James Woods.
