Region 1 DVD Censored?

I was watching the DVD (which is re-rated PG-13), and it sounds like two words were blanked out (during the scene early on when Murphy's wounds are being attended to, just after his rescue). He asked a question (one word, presumably the F-word, was muted), and was then admonished for his language. He then said something like, "nothing wrong with me [dropped audio] language." I know the Region 2 DVD is supposed to be edited, but the Region 1 disc says the PG-13 rating is for "war violence and brief language" (and yes, you CAN get away with two F-bombs in a PG-13, if the MPAA is in a good mood - I assumed this movie got a pass since it was older, rated GP, and not really deserving of an R-rating).

Has anyone else noticed the same problem?

Yeah, i don't have the disc yet, but I've heard this mentioned about the version that's on dvd. My guess is Paramount might have used a TV print of the film, which despite the PG rating (or GP in 1971, that is) would still have censored the F-bombs.

Hey, play some more of that crappy '80s music!

I've searched in vain online for any reference to possible DVD censorship, but all I've come up with is for the British DVD (which is censored as such).

This site confirms that the dvds have the censored versions:

I saw on the quotes page here that there are apparently THREE F-bombs in the film - I haven't gotten all the way through, so perhaps the first two were censored when it was re-rated to avoid an R?
