Small continuity error

Near the end of Murphy's first flight he plays about with the aeroplane a bit and does some loops, etc - at the end of the last loop I think it is, you can clearly see the two "homemade bombs" suspended under each wing...but Murphy hasn't had the idea for these at this point in the film!

Those are wing floats, to keep the wings from digging into the water and flipping the plane on landings and take offs.

I think it strange that the river is deep enough for the sub to submerge, but shallow enough for Murphy to pole the 'plane back to the hospital.

When did the U Boat submerge near the hospital? I thought that when the Germans went there, they left the sub on boats first.

reply

after Murphy bombed the sub we see it coming back to shoot up the plane. when it does so it clearly 'surfaces' in the middle of the river. Altho to be fair its not clear which part of the river are deep and which are shallow.

The Orinoco River is a massive delta so there would be a main channel and 100's of tributaries. You can see that during some of the aerial shots.
