Blu-ray?

The sumptuous colours and textures would benefit greatly from a blu-ray transfer. Anyone heard anything?

I doubt it. An obscure film like this isn't exactly the kind that would make a bundle in profit on Blu-ray...especially if it involved remastering to get the image up to standard.

I would love this film restored for Blu-ray. :)

If Criterion can justify Heaven's Gate, then I'm sure they would go for this one on BD.

Warner distributed the DVD all around the world in many languages, so I'd would have thought it warranted a BD.
When the movie was released in the UK in the early seventies, there were long queues, as I recall.

I saw a new print recently in Shanghai during a Visconti and Tarkovsky retrospective. Leopard, Rocco and his brothers, Stalker, Solaris, Sacrifice and Mirror all look stunning. Unfortunately The print of Deatg in Venice leaves a lot to be desired. Rotunda or someone has be first do a restoration. I doubt a good quality blue ray will come out any time soon.

My favorite Visconti and one of the top ten films ever made.
