One of the best Canadian films...
...and only this post to discuss it?
I guess it's not that well known/liked by the general public.

Is there an affordable DVD for this? I can only see ones that are terribly expensive...

this one is cheap.
I saw the film on TCM and must say frankly that I found it greatly overrated. It's plotless to a fault, and ultimately has no real central character. I'm Canadian and have a strong attachment to the best of Canadian cinema in both languagues. I can't fathom why this film merits inclusion. It's just a series of things happening on the screen, and then it ends.
shareYou must be a fan of The Red Violin.

This was pretty boring. We watched the entire thing hoping it would get better or go somewhere.
shareI just recently stumbled upon the Criterion release at my public library and decided to give the film a shot. What a pleasant surprise. This is a gorgeous coming of age story, and Jacques Gagnon is a revelation.
