If you have the score in CD, you've heard a song called 'There will be time' by Osanna. Now I could swear this song doesn't play a single time in the movie. Am I wrong? And if I'm right, why was the song in the score for the movie?

You are right, the song is not played in the film, which I just watched.
I supposed it was meant to be there originally but got left out in the end, or it's possible it's just a song they decided to include as the length of the album would have been sub-standard otherwise.
I don't know what was the trend at that time regarding movie "soundtracks", but nowdays you actually find half of the content of those compilations to be totally non related material. Like if they choose some new tracks that "fit the mood" of the movie.
