Coming to Criterion Blu-ray and DVD on August 9, 2016

Criterion has just announced this title for release on Blu-ray and DVD on August 9, 2016.

I wonder if Warren Beatty and Julie Christie might be interviewed for the disc.

UPDATE: Apparently, they won't be involved with this release. However, cast members Keith Carradine, Rene Auberjonois, and Michael Murphy will be.

I expected asshat Beatty not to be involved (though he's wonderful in the film), but I'm surprised Christie didn't do an interview.

Either way, it will be great to have a better print and sound of this true masterpiece.

I prefer the drab colors of the old WB DVD to the overly green and vivid colors of the CC restoration.

The color grading is based on a archive print timed by Vilmos Zsigmond personaly.

& its what the film is supposed to look like. theres a reason its so soft looking. that warner dvd was a disgrace, no detail what so ever in the pq and washed out colors.

Street date delayed to October 11. No reason given for the delay. The 4k restoration reportedly does reveal a camera crew and tripod in the background of one shot. Should the restorers leave them in? They're seen on the left of the shot of Beatty crouched in the snow holding a pistol, just before the high shot of the horse running through the town. On the old WB DVD the filming crew and tripod are not distinct.
