RIP Leonard Cohen

Just received word that this guy died yesterday. Eerie, since I just re-watched McCabe and Mrs. Miller two nights ago after buying the hotly-anticipated (and much-deserved) Criterion release.

Sleep well, dude. Your songwriting talents were hugely instrumental in making this movie the haunting and masterful anti-western it's revered as.

I saw Cohen's obit a few days ago. So today I was looking at his Wikipedia page, which led me here. I had no idea that this movie was more than just another 70's western. I'd never seen it. Now I'm going to revive my Netflix DVD account just to see it.

Did you catch Kate McKinnon's Hallelujah on SNL? Made me cry.

I understand. Thank you for telling me. -The masked bandit

You'd be hard-pressed to come across any "Best Western" list that omits it. It's certainly the most heralded of all the "anti-westerns" that revered American filmmakers were embracing in the early 70s.

Easily Altman's best film, IMO.

I don't watch SNL.
